Agency Endowments
Establishing an Agency Endowment Fund with CFSEA is a simple and efficient way to build a permanent unrestricted income for your charitable organization. Our experienced staff can help you develop planned giving programs and assist with investment management and administrative details.
Your donors can be sure that the endowed fund’s principal will not be spent and can grow over time. The Community Foundation’s economies of scale provide your organization with the benefits of a diverse investment portfolio and low investment fees that typically come only with very large funds.
Your organization’s regular donors can leave a bequest through the Community Foundation. Our team can also facilitate other donations such as:
- Bequests
- Life Insurance
- Charitable Remainder Trusts
- Retirement Funds
- Real Estate
- Stocks and Bonds
- Land
- Other Appraisable Assets
How It Works
Start a Conversation With CFSEA
Call the Community Foundation and start a conversation – you can request a presentation and we will deliver information to your staff and Board for their consideration.
Make a Plan
As an agency, you need to have Board buy-in, marketing and communications, fundraising and donor stewardship plans to ensure success.
Click here for the Endowment Building Toolkit.
Create a Fund Agreement
When you are ready to move ahead, the Community Foundation staff will work with you to prepare a Fund Agreement. A minimum contribution of $5,000 is required. Additional funds can be added at anytime.
Build Your Fund
Endowments are built over time with specific strategies. The Community Foundation can share ideas to best suit your agency.
Receive The First Grant
Your first grant will be issued approximately 18 months after your fund is established. The percentage amount from the investment income is dictated by the Canada Revenue Agency.
Monitor Fund Growth
The Community Foundation will provide, at minimum, an annual Fund Statement detailing the activity of the fund. More frequent reports are available upon request.
