Southeast Alberta Veterinary Scholarship Fund Launched to Support Future Rural Veterinarians
The Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta (CFSEA), in partnership with Palliser Economic Partnership, is pleased to announce the launch of the Southeast Alberta Veterinary Scholarship Fund, a new initiative created to support students entering the field and to help strengthen long-term access to animal health services in rural communities.
Established by Palliser Economic Partnership, the fund reflects a shared commitment to workforce development, agricultural sustainability, and the future of rural services. By investing in students who are interested in rural practice, the initiative aims to help address current and emerging gaps in veterinary care while supporting the communities and industries that depend on it.
“The Southeast Alberta Veterinary Scholarship Fund reflects a proactive investment in the future of our region,” says Barb Kulyk, Executive Director of Palliser Economic Partnership. “Accessible, high-quality veterinary care is essential to our rural communities and agricultural economy. This fund is one way we can support students who are committed to building their careers here and serving the communities that depend on them.”
Through the fund, financial support will be provided to students who plan to pursue a veterinary practice in a Southeast Alberta community.
“This fund is about more than financial support for students. It’s about investing in the long-term well-being of our region,” says Niki Gray, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta. “By working with Palliser Economic Partnership to establish this scholarship, we are helping create pathways for future veterinarians to return to, live in, and serve Southeast Alberta communities.
The Southeast Alberta Veterinary Scholarship Fund is held and administered by CFSEA. Community members, businesses, and supporters of animal health and agriculture are invited to contribute and help grow the fund to expand its impact over time.
