Rural Futures Report
Rural Futures: Regional Development and Conversations in Southeastern Alberta examines the urgent priorities, challenges, and opportunities identified by rural communities in our region. Developed through extensive engagement, including focus groups, surveys, consultations, and collaborative research, the report captures insights from residents, organizations, and local leaders in Medicine Hat, Cypress County, the County of Newell, Special Areas No. 2, 3, 4, the M.D. of Acadia, and the County of Forty Mile.
The findings highlight key issues such as access to health care, shortages of affordable housing, workforce retention, and community well-being. Alongside this analysis, the report offers practical recommendations to support community development, investment, and collaboration in both the short and long term.
