CFSEA’s Community Impact Award is a $25,000 grant designed for agencies with innovative project ideas. Projects must show creativity and leadership in supporting a vibrant, healthy, and caring community. This year, two deserving charities in Medicine Hat received the Community Impact Award.
Our Collective Journey received a $25,000 award for Recovery Coaching. This program will help increase system capacity while providing hope to individuals and loved ones. A professionally trained Recovery Coach’s primary goal will act as a personal guide, mentor, and role model for individuals seeking recovery from substance abuse.
Additionally, $25,000 was also awarded to a partnership consisting of Cypress View Foundation and Bike Medicine Hat in support of the new chapter of Cycling Without Age. Cycling Without Age helps to alleviate isolation, physical & mental health challenges of the senior & disabled population living in care facilities. Therefore, this grant will assist in purchasing two trishaw electric bikes (piloted by youth & adult volunteers). These trishaw bikes will allow riders to experience bike riding, nature, their community, and to reconnect safely with their family and friends.
“The Community Leadership Committee reviewed many worthy applications for the Community Impact Award and were impressed by the innovation and creativity of the local organizations. Thanks to our donors and community supporters, we are able to present two awards this year to projects addressing mental health and vulnerable populations!” – Myrna Stark, CFSEA Community Leadership Committee Chair
In awarding grants, CFSEA conducts a comprehensive procedure to determine the most crucial community needs from data and evidence-based practice. Grants are then awarded based on potential impact and fund availability.
