The Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta (CFSEA) is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Fall 2026 Community Grant Cycle, supporting charitable and community-led initiatives across Southeastern Alberta. The announcement follows a strong Spring Grant Cycle, where CFSEA distributed $1.12 million to 37 organizations across Southeastern Alberta. More than $295,000 of that total was awarded through Community Grants to support initiatives that strengthen communities, improve quality of life, and respond to local needs throughout the region.
Charities and eligible non-profit organizations across Southeastern Alberta are encouraged to apply. Applications are welcome from registered charities, municipalities, educational institutions, and qualifying Alberta non-profit societies. CFSEA staff are available to help applicants understand the process and determine whether their project is eligible.
Projects must serve one or more of the following geographical areas:
• Medicine Hat & Redcliff
• Brooks & District, including the County of Newell
• Special Areas 2, 3, 4, and the MD of Acadia
• Cypress County
• County of Forty Mile
Important Dates:
• Letter of Intent (LOI) Deadline: September 14th, 2026, at 4:30 p.m.
• Full Application Deadline: September 24th, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. (noon)
Applications are reviewed by CFSEA’s Grants Committee and local Community Advisory Committees. These committees include Community Foundation board members and community volunteers who bring local knowledge and regional insight to the decision-making process. Applicants are encouraged to review the priorities below before submitting their Letter of Intent to ensure their proposed project aligns with current community needs and funding considerations.
While all eligible applications are welcome, CFSEA gives priority to initiatives that support work and economy, connection and belonging, and basic needs such as housing, food, and health. In rural communities, the Foundation places particular emphasis on improving access to health care, increasing housing availability, and reducing social isolation. Community Grants are made possible through CFSEA’s Community Fund, which provides
flexible support for the region’s most pressing needs. Gifts to the Community Fund help ensure resources are available where they can make the greatest impact now and in the future.
